About this tour

Enjoy a 35-minute ride up the Cetina River on a panorama boat cruise. The Cetina River spans 101 km and is the most water-rich in Croatia. The majestic karst mountains line the landscape as you breathe in the fresh canyon air. Our destination is an old 18th-century water mill, now a beer garden known as Radmanove Mlinice, or Radman Mills. At the Mills, you will have 40 minutes of free time before we make a return trip to the town. There, you can sit at the restaurant and order drinks or a light appetizer. Or you can skip the restaurant and enjoy the park, historical sites, and trails along the river. There’s also a small beach for swimming and the water is fresh and very clean. During the cruise, you will see plenty of fish (mostly freshwater trout), some turtles, and various native bird species. Please note that this is not a guided tour; some things are best enjoyed in silence.

Itinerary

Omiš Old Town

Your day starts here when you check in with us at our office in the heart of the Old Town. Look for us near the Mirabella Fortress entrance - Travel Agency Old Town. From there, we'll direct you to the boats, where your tour begins. The Old Town of Omiš, with structures dating back to the 13th, 15th, and 18th centuries, is the central historical area of Omiš. The town and the Cetina River are intricately and infamously connected. Omiš and the Cetina were well known in the past because of the sea-faring "pirates" and their specially built ships, which brought them fame because they were built for attack and fast retrieval into the mouth of the Cetina River. For years, the river was used strategically to protect the town from foreign invaders.

Cetina River Canyon

The Cetina is the pride and crown jewel of Omiš, located in southern Dalmatia. It has a length of 101 km, making it the most water-rich river in Croatia. Depart by kayak from the Old Town of Omiš and paddle up the winding stretches lined with natural sea grasses and native trees. You can go as far as 7km until you reach the finish point at Radman Mills Beer Garden and park. There are a few other areas you can stop at before you reach the end, like Kaštil Slanica, a local restaurant situated right on the river bank.

Radman Mills (Radmanove Mlinice)

The historical site of a previously functional 17th-century water mill powered by the Cetina's powerful flow, but now a converted natural park, restaurant, and beer garden. The Radman Mills brings a hidden respite to locals and travelers alike. Completely engulfed by ancient trees and greenery, the Mills can be enjoyed by all ages. Activities offered include hiking trails, a small beach for swimming, and various games and play areas. The restaurant specializes in local cuisine and is famous for its unique Peka bread made daily on the premises.

Frequently asked questions

That depends on your group size, time of the year and day, and what kind of experience you're looking for. If you're a small group (no more than three people) and you're only looking to have a beer, a glass of wine, or coffee, then you don't need to have a reservation. However, keep in mind that during peak tourism season (June, July, and August), there are big crowds, and seating, availability, and service are not guaranteed. If you want to have lunch and are a big group, then you should call the restaurant well ahead of your planned tour for a reservation. Keep in mind that there are some dishes on the menu that require you to call and order at minimum one day in advance. If you have a special occasion in mind or would like to take a private tour that includes extra time for lunch, please reach out to us directly via our Contact form, and we'd be happy to help.

To make a private tour reservation, please use our Contact form, and we will reply to you as soon as possible to make plans. Alternatively, come to our office, and we can make arrangements in person.

The earliest public tour departs at 9 a.m., and the latest is around 19:00 during peak summer months when the days are longer. However, in the spring and fall, with shorter sunlight hours, the latest tour departs at 17:00.

There is minimal walking involved. However, you may be required to hop over other boats to get into the boat going on tour at that time. In addition, there is a set of stairs at the Radman Mills beer garden, which are at the entrance as you get off the boat from the dock. At the beer garden, you can walk as much or as little as you like. If you don't prefer to walk as much, grab a seat at a table and order a drink while you wait.

Please keep in mind that there is no tour guide for this trip. There is an English-speaking local driver who captains the boat. However, he/she is not a tour guide and will not be providing information about the area, surroundings, stops, etc. This tour is more of a panoramic landscape boating experience, which, in our opinion, is best enjoyed in silence. As far as where the tour begins, you should check in with us at the office at least five (5) minutes before your scheduled departure. We will direct you to the boat, which is about a two-minute walk from the office in the Old Town.
