Explore the wild beauty of the Cetina River, a protected natural environment, on a 10-km white water rafting tour. The level two white water is perfect for all ages to enjoy. The route is safe enough for children as young as 3 years old to join. Rafting on the Cetina wouldn’t be complete without a full exploration of the surroundings, which includes two pauses along the way, one for swimming and another for cliff jumping. At the end of the tour, you will have about a half-hour of free time to enjoy the river and change into dry clothes before we return to the Old Town of Omiš. Two tours are running every day: mornings (9 a.m. – 13:00) and afternoons (14:00 – 18:00). Pictures of your rafting experience will be taken along the way and can be purchased for an additional fee.
Your day starts here when you check in with us at our office in the heart of the Old Town. Look for us near the Mirabella Fortress entrance - Travel Agency Old Town. From there, we'll direct you to the pick-up point, where a minivan will bring you to begin the tour. The Old Town of Omiš, with structures dating back to the 13th, 15th, and 18th centuries, is the central historical area of Omiš. The town and the Cetina River are intricately and infamously connected. Omiš and the Cetina were well known in the past because of the sea-faring "pirates" and their specially built ships, which brought them fame because they were built for attack and fast retrieval into the mouth of the Cetina River. For years, the river was used strategically to protect the town from foreign invaders.
The Cetina is the pride and crown jewel of Omiš, located in southern Dalmatia. It has a length of 101 km, making it the most water-rich river in Croatia. Depart by kayak from the Old Town of Omiš and paddle up the winding stretches lined with natural sea grasses and native trees. You can go as far as 7km until you reach the finish point at Radman Mills Beer Garden and park. There are a few other areas you can stop at before you reach the end, like Kaštil Slanica, a local restaurant situated right on the river bank.
There are two (2) rafting tours available every day: 9 a.m. and 14:00.
Yes! The Cetina River's white water is only level two difficulty, which means it is safe enough for young children (as young as 3 years of age) to join the tour. Each raft is suitable for approximately 3-4 adults to sit on either side, so a total of 6-8 adults. When small children join the tour they are seated in the middle of the raft and are not expected to paddle. In this way, the children are protected on either side by the adults while still being able to take in the surroundings and get splashed along the way.
This tour is not considered dangerous at all. If it were, we would not allow small children to join. Again, the level of difficulty placed on the white water is two (2) out of five (5), which means this is a beginner-level rafting experience. Furthermore, all of the raft skippers are experienced with the river and have the skills to ensure your raft navigates the waters safely.
There is not much walking involved. However, there is one area of the river where no one is allowed to pass with a raft, and therefore, we stop before this place and you are required to walk around it before getting back on the raft on the other side of this section.
On the rafting tour, the main attraction is the white water of the Cetina. But there is plenty of flora and fauna to enjoy. Natural cascades line the route along with secret caves, freshwater trouts, and a plethora of native bird species.
Wear your swimsuits, water shoes, sunglasses and sunblock. That's it! You will NOT be hands-free on this tour, as you will be required to paddle and help move the raft along the river. This means no cell phones or cameras. Any personal belongings you bring with you will stay in the locked minivan you arrived in. It will all be waiting for you when you get done.
Absolutely! Especially if you plan to take children, you should bring snacks and water to have something before you begin and at the end of the tour. However, you will NOT be able to carry any food or drinks with you on the raft during the tour.
During peak tourism season, it's best to plan your tour as far in advance as possible, as there are plenty of people during the summer months. However, many people make their reservation the day before, and that's the minimum amount of time needed to reserve your spot(s). Keep in mind, that there are two tours per day: mornings (9 a.m. - 13:00) and afternoons (13:00 - 17:00) so there are plenty of opportunities to hit the white water.
